Research Interests

I am carrying out research at CNR - IEIIT. I am also a collaborator at the UrbaNet INRIA team hosted by the CITI Lab of INSA Lyon. My current interests are in the following research areas:

  • User mobility characterization in wireless access and spontaneous networks
  • Mobile traffic data mining and analysis
  • Privacy in mobile traffic datasets
  • Content download, upload and propagation in vehicular networks

In the past, I've been involved in research projects concerning diverse topics:

  • User position discovery and verification in mobile networks
  • Information sharing and caching in vehicular ad hoc networks
  • Mobile users support in large-scale wireless mesh networks
  • Generation of vehicular mobility traces for network simulation
  • Performance evaluation of the IEEE 802.11e standard draft
  • Concurrent multipath transfers in wired networks

  • Madrid Trace
    Several traces of road traffic on three highways close to Madrid, Spain, generated using a dedicated microsimulator, also available at the webpage above. The work was carried out with Marco Gramaglia, Oscar Trullols-Cruces, and Maria Calderon
  • Köln Trace
    A complete vehicular mobility trace of the city of Cologne, Germany, generated through OpenStreetMap, SUMO and the TAPASCologne traffic demand dataset. The work was carried out jointly with Sandesh Uppoor.
  • VanetMobiSim
    A modeler of vehicular mobility compatible with many network simulators, coded together with Jérôme Härri
  • trace2stats
    A set of AWK scripts to get node-to-node statistics from the tracefiles generated by the ns-2 network simulator
  • Wireless patch for ns-2.29
    Patch for the ns-2 network simulator, improving the original support for wireless simulations. The patch adds the following features to ns-2.29:

    • realistic channel propagation by Wu Xiuchao
    • ricean propagation model by Ratish J. Punnoose
    • SNOOPy calendar scheduler by David X. Wei
    • 802.11 bug fixes by Felix Schmidt-Eisenlohr
