Frédéric Le Mouël is currently Associate Professor in the National Institute for Applied Sciences of Lyon (INSA Lyon, France), Telecommunications Department - a leading engineering school in France, part of the University of Lyon. He conducts his research in the Center for Innovation in Telecommunication and Integration of Services (INRIA CITI Lab.) where he is leading the Dynamic Software and Distributed Systems for the Internet of Things research group (DynaMid Team).
Frédéric Le Mouël joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), Computer Science Department as Visiting Professor in 2013. He currently leads a regional project for structuring collaborations with SJTU about "Smart Cities and IT Technologies for a Sustainable Development". He also heads the Specific Program of Engineering in Telecommunication, a joint program between INSA Lyon, SJTU and EM Lyon (SPE-T), where he teaches a lecture about "The Internet of Things: the application view - The Ambient Intelligence".
Frédéric Le Mouël holds a 'Diplôme d'Ingénieur en Informatique et Communication', French equivalence of a master's degree in Languages and Operating Systems, and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Rennes 1, France, disserting on adaptive environments for distributed execution of applications in a mobile computing context. He defended a HDR 'Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches' on complexity of ambient software: from composition to distributed, contextual, autonomous, large-scale execution.
His main interests are distributed systems, operating systems, component and service-oriented middleware, virtual machines, programming languages and more specifically in dynamic adapting, self-coordinating and autonomic environments. He is specially studying these topics in the domain of Ambient Intelligence, Internet of Things, Home Automation and Vehicular Networks. He is in the program committee of several international conferences (UIC, UCS, ICPS, UBICOMM, RTCSA) and workshops (IUPT, DSOM, ADAMUS, MAI). He also co-organizes the SIPE and SOMITAS workshops.
