Short Bio

Frédéric Le Mouël is currently Full Professor in the National Institute for Applied Sciences of Lyon (INSA Lyon, France), Telecommunications Department - a leading engineering school in France, part of the University of Lyon. He is heading the Center for Innovation in Telecommunication and Integration of Services (INSA/Inria CITI Lab.), where he is leading the Dynamic Software and Distributed Systems for the Internet of Things research group (DynaMid Team).

From 2019, Frédéric Le Mouël holds the SPIE/INSA research chair in the Internet of Things. He is especially animating the research topic on IoT large-scale deployments.

Frédéric Le Mouël joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), Computer Science Department as Visiting Professor in 2013. He led a regional project for structuring collaborations with SJTU about "Smart Cities and IT Technologies for a Sustainable Development". He also headed the Department International Relations, the Information Science and Technology cursus (IST) and the Specific Program of Engineering in Telecommunication, a joint program between INSA Lyon, SJTU and EM Lyon (SPE-T).

Frédéric Le Mouël holds a 'Diplôme d'Ingénieur en Informatique et Communication', French equivalence of a master's degree in Languages and Operating Systems, and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Rennes 1, France, disserting on adaptive environments for distributed execution of applications in a mobile computing context. He defended a HDR 'Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches' on complexity of ambient software: from composition to distributed, contextual, autonomous, large-scale execution.

His main interests are distributed systems, operating systems, component and service-oriented middleware, virtual machines, programming languages and more specifically in dynamic adapting, self-coordinating and autonomic environments. He is specially studying these topics in the domain of Ambient Intelligence, Internet of Things, Home Automation and Vehicular Networks. He published more than 100 publications in international journals and conferences and is member of several conference committees.
